in 2009, design miami asked the new york school of interior design to select a team of three top students to design the space in which the design talks are hosted. nysid students sarah j. muchow (bfa '10), daniel j. park (bfa '10), and stefan steil (mfa '10) were selected to carry out the project under the guidance of professors rene estacio and debra bryant. design miami is proud to support young and emerging design talent and to provide these students with the opportunity to showcase their work to an important audience of design collectors and enthusiasts.
the nysid design team chose to explore the changing notions of luxury in a time of recession, integrating the high-end furniture provided by cappellini and poltrona frau with hand-made decorative accents crafted from commonly available hardware and secondhand hoods. the end result is an evocative interior that captures the essence of creativity and sumptuousness in unpredicatble times.
