Selldorf Architects recently completed a careful renovation of the Oak Room and Bar at The Plaza Hotel in New York City. The firm has subtly infused this historic establishment with a contemporary design aesthetic, creating a space that is reminiscent of its original era yet provides a modern, vibrant atmosphere for elegant dining. In addition to custom designing all loose furniture, lighting and accessories, Selldorf designed new cork flooring in custom colors for the Oak Bar, to match the pattern of the original linoleum floor. All work met with full approval from The New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission.
